Activities:

The Monster Boogie (Laurie Berkner; Buzz Buzz #8)

If You're a Ghost and You Know It

(Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)

If you're a ghost and you know it just say "Boo!"

If you're a ghost and you know it just say "Boo!"

If you're a ghost and you know it,

and you really want to show it,

If you're a ghost and you know it just say "Boo!"

Additional Verses:

If you're a bat and you know it flap your wings!

If you're a monster and you know it roar out loud!

If you're a vampire and you know it show your fangs!

If you're a werewolf and you know it give a howl!

My Monster Friends

My monster friends are funny.

My monster friends are hairy.

And when they’re very naughty,

My monster friends are scary.

This monster friend is wiggly.

This monster friend is jumpy.

This monster friend is upside-down.

This monster friend is lumpy.

This monster friend has great big feet.

They’re all very silly indeed.

But the very best thing about my monster friends—

They’re every one make-believe.

How many monster friends do I have?

(Count the monsters)

Horns and Fangs

(Tune: Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes)

Horns and fangs,

knees and claws,

knees and claws.

Horns and fangs,

knees and claws.

knees and claws.

Eyes and ears and tail and paws,

Horns and fangs,

knees and claws.

knees and claws.

Ten Little Ghosts

Ten little ghosts all dressed in white

(Hold up 10 fingers)

Went out a-haunting on Halloween night.

(Wiggle fingers)

They all looked around for someone to scare.

(Cup hands around eyes, look around)

They floated here and floated there.

(Wiggle fingers to the right, then to the left)

Then the ten little ghosts took a look at you,

(Point to another person)

And they all ran away when you said, "Boo!"

(Put hands behind your back)

You Are My Monster

(Tune: You Are My Sunshine)

You are my monster,

My only monster.

You make me happy,

When I am sad.

You never know dear,

How much I love you.

Please don't take

My monster away!

Five Little Pumpkins

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.

The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"

The second one said, "There are witches in the air."

The third one said, "But we don't care."

The fourth one said, "Let's run, let's run!"

The fifth one said, "Isn't Halloween fun?"

Then "Woooooo!" went the wind,

And OUT went the lights!

And five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

I'm a Little Pumpkin

(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little pumpkin, fat and round

Here is my face making a frown

I'm a little pumpkin, tall and thin

Here is my face, making a grin

I'm a little pumpkin, I've got style

Here is my face making a smile!

The Monsters Are So Loud

(To the tune of: When Johnny Comes Marching Home)

The monsters stomp around the house,

boom boom! Boom boom!

The monsters stomp around the house,

boom boom! Boom boom!

The monsters stomp around the house,

their brothers and sisters kick them out.

And they stomp some more outside, oh yeah,

around the house.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Imagine...

Imagine how a monster would...

-Hop

-Swim

-Walk

-Dance

-Spin

-Wiggle

-Brush their teeh

-Shake

What Do Monsters Do?

What do monsters do?

They stretch and touch their toes!

What do monsters do?

They comb their purple hair!

What do monsters do?

They stick out their green tongues!

What do monsters do?

They brush their teeth with a broom!

What do monsters do?

They rub their yellow eyes.

What do monsters do?

They wiggle their orange ears!

Boy, am I glad I'm not a monster!

Crafts:

Make Your Own Monster

Give kids a piece of colored construction paper cut into a wiggly shape. Put out markers or crayons, sequins, wiggly eyes, ribbon, buttons, etc. and let them decorate their monster however they want.

Monster Shapes

Give kids a large selection of shapes cut from colorful construction paper, in many different sizes. Let them create a monster by gluing the shapes together to create a body, head, face, hair, teeth, arms, legs, and/or a tail.

Ghosts

To make this craft project you will need a white paper plate, colored construction paper, crayons or markers, scissors, white streamers, a piece of ribbon, wiggly eyes and glue. To begin take your white paper plate and create a ghostly face on it with your crayons, markers, wiggly eyes, or pieces of colored construction paper and glue. Next take your scissors and cut many lengths of white streamers. Attach the streamers to the bottom edges of the paper plate with glue to create a spooky, ghostly decoration. Add a piece of ribbon to the top if you wish to hang it up.

Coffee Filter Ghosts

Cut styrofoam egg cartons apart. Layer a coffee filter over the top of an upside down egg carton cup, and poke a hole through both with a white pipe cleaner. Pull the pipe cleaner most of the way through, and twist the bottom a bit under the egg carton so it won't pull through all the way. Add two dots for eyes or use wiggly eyes and wave your ghost around!
