Ten Little Fishes
Hold up ten fingers and then make swimming motions with their hands. For the rest of the lines, wiggle each finger in turn.
Ten little fishes were swimming in a school,
This one said, "Let's swim where it is cool."
This one said, "It's a very warm day."
This one said, "Come on, let's play."
This one said, "I'm as hungry as can be."
This one said, "There's a worm for me."
This one said, "Wait, we'd better look."
This one said, "Yes, it's on a hook."
This one said, "Can't we get it anyway?"
This one said, "Perhaps we may."
This one, so very brave, grabbed a bite and swam away.
Five Little Fishes
Make swimming motions, then wiggle a different finger as you say each line.
Five little fishes swimming in a pool
This one said, "The pool is cool."
This one said, "The pool is deep."
This one said, "I'd like to sleep."
This one said, "I'll float and dip."
This one said, "I see a ship."
The fishing boat comes.
The line goes splash.
All the little fishes swim away in a flash!
Goldfish
Pretty little goldfish
Never can talk.
All it does is wiggle
When it tries to walk.
Fish Rhyme
One, two, three, four, five,
I caught a fish alive.
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten,
I let him go again!
Why did I let him go?
Because he bit my finger so.
Which finger did he bite?
The little one on the right.
All the Fish Are Swimming in the Water
by "Miss Jackie" Silberg
http://www.songsforteaching.com/fingerplays/fish.htm
For all verses: Make swimming motions
Open and close your hands as you say ‘Bubble”
Throw your arms up and out as you say "SPLASH!"
All of the fish are swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
All of the fish are swimming in the water
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble...SPLASH!
Recite this verse in a slow, low voice, with large, exaggerated motions:
The great big fish is swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
The great big fish is swimming in the water
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble...SPLASH!
Recite this verse in a high, squeaky voice, with small, fast motions:
The little bitty fish are swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
Swimming in the water
The little bitty fish are swimming in the water
Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble...SPLASH!

Fish with Colored Scales
Let kids glue circles cut from construction paper onto the fish template. Punch a hole near the mouth and tie a string in it to swing it from.
Template: Fish.bmp
Paper Plate Fish
Template and instructions: http://www.storyplace.org/preschool/activities/fishtakehome.asp?themeid=22
For very young children, pre-cut the plates. You can use wiggly eyes or draw eyes. Cut fins out of extra plates.
Colorful Fish
Use the fish template above. Lay small pieces of colorful tissue paper over it and 'paint' gently with water. The color will soak through into the paper. The tissue paper dries in about 5-10 minutes and falls off or you can peel it off as you paint. Punch a hole near the mouth and tie on a string. You can copy the fish template smaller and let each child make more than one - that may keep them busy enough to let the first one dry! Attach the strings from all the fish to a popsicle stick and let them admire their 'catch'! (NOTE: Be sure to test this out first with the tissue paper you will be using! Not all tissue paper bleeds well)
