Big Round Sun

The big round sun in the summer sky

(form large circle with arms)

Winked at a cloud that was passing by.

(wink eye)

The little cloud laughed as it scattered rain,

(flutter fingers downward)

Then out came the big round sun again.

(form large circle with arms)

A Day at the Beach

Ocean breeze blowing (sway arms back and forth)

Feet kick and splash (kick feet)

Ocean waves breaking on rocks with a CRASH! (clap hands loudly)

Boys finding seashells (pretend to pick up shells)

Girls sifting sand (pour sand between hands)

Friends building castles as high as they can! (reach up high)

Waves at the Beach

(Tune: The Wheels on the Bus)

The waves at the beach go up and down,

Up and down, up and down.

The waves at the beach go up and down, all day long!

The crabs at the beach crawl back and forth…

The lobsters at the beach go snap, snap, snap…

The clams at the beach go open and shut…

The jellyfish at the beach go wibble, wobble, wibble

Children at the Beach

Five little children

Playing on the shore

One went fishing

And then there were four

Four little children

Swimming out to sea

One went back

And then there were three

Three little children said

"What do we do?"

One built a sand castle

And then there were two.

Two little children

Reading in the sun

One went for drinks

And then there was one.

One little child

Didn't want to stay

He said, "I'm bored,"

And he walked away

Here is the Sea

Here is the sea,

the wavy sea.

(wave hands from side to side)

Here is my boat,

(cup hands like a boat)

And here is me

(point to self)

All of the fishes

Down below

Wiggle their tails

And way they go.

(Make fish swimming motions with hands together)

Five Little Seashells

(Hold up 5 fingers, bending down one for each verse.)

Five little seashells sitting on the shore.

WHOOSH! went a wave, and then there were four.

(Move arms, palms up, to make the waves.)

Four little seashells, pretty as can be.

WHOOSH! went a wave, and then there were three.

Three little seashells, colored pink and blue.

WHOOSH! went a wave, and then there were two.

Two little seashells sitting in the sun.

WHOOSH! went a wave, and then there was one.

One little seashell looking so alone.

I picked it up in my hand, and then I took it home!

OR USE ALTERNATE ENDING:

One little seashell having lots of fun

WHOOSH! went a wave, and then there were none.

Five little seashells gone out to sea,

(Shade eyes with hand)

Wait until morning and they'll return to me!

(Point to self.)

Sea Star Wish

by Sherry Warren

I found a purple sea star

One day on the shore

I liked it so much

I wanted more.

So I made a wish

As I held it in my hand

This is what I said

As I stood on the sand.

"Sea stars, sea stars,

On the rocks in the sea,

Crawl through the waves

And come to me."

I watched and I waited

What seemed a long time.

Then out of the waves,

They came in a line.

First came the sea star

As blue as the sky

Then a yellow one

With ten arms crawled by.

Next was a red one

Lying in the sand

Close to an orange sea star

With a speckled band.

"This is enough sea stars,"

I cried, "no more!"

But still they came

Upon the shore

Beige and pink

And brown and white

And two beautiful

Sea stars as black as night.

I cried "Sea stars, sea stars,

Out in the sea.

Please stay there,

don't crawl to me."

I took a breath

And waited to see;

Soon all of the sea stars

Crawled back to the sea.

Sandy wishes

One of my favorite wishes                      hold up one finger

Is to play in sand that squishes               pretend to squish sand

To make a sand castle and sand cake      pretend to pat sand castle

And leave them in the sun to bake          point up to sun

Will it feel good, do you suppose?            point to friend

To squish the sand between my toes?        wiggle toes

One Little Seashell

One little seashell                          Hold up one finger

Lying on the shore

In rolls a wave                               Make waving motion with hand

Then there's one more                  Hold up two fingers

Two little seashells                         Hold up two fingers

Lying side by side

One gets picked up                         Bend over like picking up

One washes away with the tide          Wash shell away with hand
