Little Red Caboose (Laurie Berkner; Buzz Buzz CD)

Choo-Choo Train

This is a choo-choo train,

(Bend arms at elbows)

Puffing down the track.

(Rotate arms in rhythm)

Now it's going forward,

(Lean forward)

Now it’s going back.

(Lean back)

Now the bell is ringing.

(Pull cord with closed fist)

Now the whistle blows.

(Hold fist near mouth and blow “Toot, Toot”)

What a lot of noise it makes.

(Cover ears with hands)

Everywhere it goes!

Old MacDonald Had a Car

Old MacDonald had a car

E-I-E-I-O

And on this car there was a horn

E-I-E-I-O

With a beep beep here

And a beep beep there

Here a beep, there a beep

Everywhere a beep beep

Old MacDonald had a car

E-I-E-I-O

Additional verses:

Tire--spin spin

Steering wheel--turn turn

Window--up down, up down

Motor--vroom vroom

Windshield Wiper

(Repeat the rhyme using arm, then leg, then whole body)

I’m a windshield wiper,

This is how I go.

Back and forth, back and forth,

In the rain and snow.

Row, Row, Row Your Boat

Row, row, row your boat

Gently down the stream,

Merrily, merrily,

merrily, merrily,

Life is such a dream.

Drive, drive, drive your car

Quickly down the street,

Merrily, merrily,

merrily, merrily,

Life is such a treat.

Fly, fly, fly your plane

Way up in the air,

Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,

Life without a care.

We’re Riding On the Bus

(Tune: If You're Happy and You Know It)

Oh, we're riding on the bus, on the bus.

Oh, we're riding on the bus, on the bus.

Oh, we're riding on the bus,

Come and ride along with us.

Oh, we're riding on the bus, on the bus.

Repeat, each time substituting a word such as "clapping", “bouncing”, or “nodding” for "riding."

We Are Flying

(Tune: Frere Jacques)

We are flying, we are flying

Up so high, up so high.

See the fluffy white clouds,

See the sparkly sunshine

In the sky, in the sky.

We are flying, we are flying

Round and round, round and round.

See the tiny houses,

See the tiny people

On the ground, on the ground.

Motorboat

(Tune: Jingle Bells)

Motorboat, motorboat,

Going round the bay.

Motorboat, oh, motorboat,

This is what you say,

Putt-putt-putt, putt-putt-putt,

Putt-putt all the way.

Motorboat, oh, motorboat,

You putt-putt-putt all day!

Let children "putt-putt" around the room as you sing.

My Bike

One wheel, two wheels

on the ground.

(make circular motion with arms)

My feet make the pedals

go round and round.

(lift feet and pretend to pedal)

The handlebars help me

steer so straight,

(pretend to steer)

Down the sidewalk,

and through the gate!

(hold one hand above eyes and look into the distance)

Crafts:

Airplane pictures

Give each child an airplane shape cut from any color of paper to decorate as desired. Invite them to glue their planes onto pieces of blue paper. To complete their pictures, let them glue wisps of cotton on their papers for clouds.

Traffic Light Necklace

Cut long rectangles out of black construction paper (make them twice as long as you want them to be so you can fold them over around the necklace). Cut lengths of red, green and yellow yarn for the necklace. (You could braid them together beforehand, or just use one color per necklace) Let kids stick colored circle stickers onto the front of the black rectangles (or cut out circles and glue them on). Place the yarn at the top near the fold and glue the inside of the paper together.

Paper Train

Car

You will need plasic milk bottle caps for this craft - start collecting them well before you plan to do storytime!

Template and instructions: http://www.storyplace.org/preschool/activities/wheelstakehome.asp?themeid=19

Spinning Airplane

Glue two triangles of heavy paper to the top edge of a toilet paper tube. You may need to reinforce them with pipe cleaners and tape underneath. Decorate! Punch a hole in the front of the tube (near the 'nose' of your plane) and tie a string onto it. Spin around in a circle and your plane will fly with you!
