Five Lucky Leprechauns

Five lucky leprechauns standing in a row.

Dressed in green from head to toe!

One lucky leprechaun

Was afraid their secret would be told.

So he slid down the rainbow

To guard their pot of gold!

count down to one, then...

One lucky leprechaun standing in a row.

Dressed in green from head to toe!

The last lucky leprechaun

Was afraid their secret would be told.

So he slid down the rainbow

To guard their pot of gold!

Leprechaun, Leprechaun

Pass out instruments or sticks and kept a steady beat

(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Leprechaun, leprechaun,

where can you be?

Leprechaun, leprechaun,

hiding from me!

If we play and if we shout

(all play frantically and give a short, controlled "aarrgghh"),

(re-establish steady beat) we might make the leprechaun come out!

I'm a Little Shamrock

(Tune: I'm a little Teapot)

I'm a little shamrock,

Look at me!

Oh, what color can I be?

If you said that I was

The color green,

Then stand right up and yell,

YIPPEE!

Five Little Shamrocks

1 green shamrock, in the morning dew,

Another one sprouted, and then there were two.

2 green shamrocks, growing beneath a tree;

Another one sprouted and then there were three.

3 green shamrocks, by the cottage door;

Another one sprouted,

And then there were four.

4 green shamrocks, near a beehive

Another one sprouted,

And then there were five.

5 little shamrocks, bright and emerald green,

Think of all the luck these shamrocks will bring.

Do You Know What a Shamrock is?

Do you know what a shamrock is, a shamrock is, a shamrock is?

Do you know what a shamrock is? A shamrock is a plant!

Do you know were a shamrock grows, a shamrock grows, a shamrock grows?

Do you know were a shamrock grows? It grows in the ground!

Do you know what color a shamrock is, a shamrock is, a shamrock is?

Do you know what color a shamrock is? A shamrock is green!!!!!!

The Leprechaun Song

(Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb)

I'm a little leprechaun, leprechaun, leprechaun

I'm a little leprechaun, who likes to hide my gold!

I dress in green from head to toe, head to toe, head to toe,

I dress in green from head to toe; Green all day long!

You'll never catch me or my gold, or my gold, or my gold!

You'll never catch me or my gold, I hide it much too well!

Leprechaun Song

(Tune: I'm a Little Teapot)

I'm a little leprechaun

Dressed in green,

The tiniest man,

That you've ever seen.

If you ever catch me, so it's told,

I'll give you my pot of gold!

Crafts:

Shamrock Template:

Shiny Shamrock

Let kids put glue onto the shamrock shape, then sprinkle green glitter over it. Glue a craft stick and the “I’m a Little Shamrock” song (words above) to the back.

Shamrock collage

Cut shamrock shapes from green paper and let kids glue on green craft materials. Glue a craft stick to the back to hold it up.

Stained Glass Shamrock

Cut out shamrock shapes from white paper. (You will use the paper that the shamrock was cut out of, not the shamrock shape itself) Cut contact paper to fit the paper. Cut a square out of the center of the backing on the contact paper that is slightly bigger than the shamrock shape you cut out of the white paper. (You have to leave part of the backing on the contact paper, otherwise there won't be any sticky part left for the last step). Let kids stick tissue or crepe paper in green shades onto the exposed contact paper. Peel off the remaining backing and stick it to the white paper with the shamrock shape cut out of it. The white paper will allow only the green within the shamrock shape to show, making a 'stained glass' shamrock.

Green Shamrock Collages

Mix green paint and glue. Give each child a sheet of white paper, a green shamrock, a cup of green paint and a paintbrush. Let them paint their picture, then while the paint is still wet, let them stick on green materials like pom-poms, Easter grass, feathers, shiny foil, paper scraps, sequins (all green).

Easy Shamrock

Cut out 4 green heart shapes and a long rectangle for the stem. Glue the points together on a separate sheet of paper to create a four leaf clover. Or glue a craft stick on to use as a stem.

Shamrock Headband

Cut wide strips of green construction paper and tape together to make a band that will fit around the child's forehead and back of head. Tape two green pipe cleaners to it at the front. Cut shamrock shapes using the NCLS Accucut and tape them to the top of the pipe cleaners. Let kids decorate their headbands with markers, stickers or other craft materials.
