The Itsy Bitsy Spider song
Music: BOOTS by Laurie Berkner; From the Victor Vito CD
It is Raining
(Tune: Frere Jacques)
Ask kids to pretend that they are a raindrop up in the clouds, and start with your hands held high above your head. Then flutter your fingers like rain as you sing the song.
It is raining, it is raining, (flutter fingers)
all around, all around. (turn around)
Pitter patter rain drops, (flutter fingers)
Pitter patter rain drops,
On the ground, on the ground! (crouch down)
Flutter, Flutter Butterfly
(To the tune of: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star)
**Ask kids to flap their hands with their thumbs hooked like a butterfly while you sing this song.
Flutter, flutter, butterfly.
Floating in the springtime sky.
Floating by for all to see,
Floating by so merrily.
Fluter, flutter, butterfly.
Floating in the springtime sky.
Crafts:
Egg Carton Daffodil
Cut flowers using the NCLS Accucut "Flower #1B" (Use the one that doesn't have the hole in the middle - it works better). Cut leaves using Accucut "Leaves Mini #1A I-7". Cut the cups out of a yellow styrofoam egg carton. Place the flower over the bottom of the egg carton cup. Poke a yellow pipe cleaner through both. Thread one or two yellow pony beads onto the pipe cleaner (on the end that is sticking out inside the cup) and fold the end of the pipe cleaner over them. Poke the other end of the pipe cleaner through a couple leaves and slide them up the stem of your flower.
Coffee Filter Butterflies
Lay the coffee filters out on tables that you don't mind getting wet. Paint with watercolors or use sprayers with liquid watercolor paint. Wrap a black pipe cleaner around the middle and twist to form antennae. Here's a picture and more easy directions:
