We are Clothes in the Washing Machine

We are clothes in the washing machine

(Put your arms in a large circle)

We wiggle and giggle until we are clean

Then mama shakes us out to dry

Then hangs us on a clothes line high!

(Lift arms up)

Old Shoes, New Shoes

Old shoes, new shoes,

Who is wearing red shoes?

One, two, three, four,

Stomp them, stomp them on the floor!

Replace red with other colors

Last verse:

Old shoes, new shoes,

Everyone is wearing shoes!

One, two, three, four,

Let’s all stomp them on the floor!

The Clothing Pokey

You put your right glove in

You put your right glove out

You put your right glove in

And you shake it all about

You do the Clothing Pokey

and you turn yourself around.

That’s what it’s all about!

Repeat with:

Left glove

Right shoe

Left shoe

Shirt

Pants

Cobbler, Cobbler

(Ask kids what a cobbler does – He fixes broken shoes!)

Cobbler, Cobbler, mend my shoe

(hold foot on knee)

Have it done by half-past two

(hammer shoe with fist)

Stitch it up and stitch it down

(make sewing motions)

Now nail the heel all around

(hammer on the heel)

Grandma's Glasses

Here are grandma's glasses.

Here is grandma's hat.

This is the way she folds her hands,

And lays them in her lap.

Here are grandpa's glasses.

Here is grandpa's hat.

This is the way he folds his arms,

Just like that!

Busy Me

My little shoes go tap, tap, tap.

My little shirt goes flap, flap, flap.

My little pants go wiggle, wiggle, wiggle

My little hat goes jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.

My little clothes are soooo busy.

That's 'cause my clothes are all on my!

Rabbit in the Hat

Rabbit in the hat

Stay so still

(crouch down low)

Won’t you come out?

Yes I will!

(Jump up)

Hat and Shirt, Pants and Shoes

(Tune: Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes)

Hat and shirt, pants and shoes.

Pants and shoes.

Hat and shirt, pants and shoes.

Pants and shoes.

Oh, I can get dressed by myself.

Hat and shirt, pants and shoes.

Pants and shoes.

I Can Get Dressed By Myself

Tune: London Bridge is Falling Down

I can get dressed by myself, (point to yourself)

By myself,

By myself.

I can get dressed by myself.

You can, too.

(Point to someone else)

My favorite hat goes on my head

(Place hand on head)

I can button up my own shirt,

(Pretend to fasten buttons on a shirt)

I pull my pants on, one leg, two,

(Pretend to pull on pants)

I can put on my own socks,

(Pretend to put on one sock, then the other)

I can tie my shoes myself,

(Pretend to tie one shoe, then the other)

Crafts:

Ties:

Copy and cut out tie template. Let kids decorate with markers or crayons.

Plain Tie Template: http://www.sugardoodle.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2367&Itemid=5

Striped Tie Template: http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/striped_tie_template.htm

Glasses:

Use NCLS accucut "Glasses Frame" to cut enough pieces for each child. Let kids glue frame to sides and decorate with markers, crayons, stickers, sequins, etc.

Shirts:

Use the template to cut shirt shapes from coffee filters.  Have kids scribble on them with washable markers.  Using a spray bottle, wet the shirts.  The marker will bleed to create a tie-dye affect.  Then let the kids hang their shirts on a clothesline to dry.
