Activities

Jack In The Box

Jack in the box,

stay so still.

(crouch down)

Won't you come out?

Yes, I will!

(jump up)

Jack in the box,

hidden away.

(crouch down)

Won't you come out,

so we can play?!

(jump up)

There Was A Little Turtle

There was a little turtle,

who lived in a box.

He splashed in the puddles,

and climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito!

(snap hands together)

He snapped at a flea!

He snapped at a minnow!

And he snapped at me!

He caught the mosquito!

(clap hands)

He caught the flea!

He caught the mosquito!

But he didn't catch me!

(Shake head 'no")

Boxes

A little box, a bigger box,

A great big box I see.

Let's see if we can count them:

One, two, three!

Jack in the Box

From: It's Toddler Time by Carol Hammett and Elaine Bueffel

Jack in the box jump up.

Jack in the box jump down.

Jack in the box go hop, hop, hop.

Then you turn around.

For the next song and rhyme, find a small box as to use as a prop and put small objects or pictures in it or ask kids to use their imaginations. Good props would be animals, musical instruments, cars, a clock, or anything else that has a distinctive noise to it. When you take it out of the box, encourage kids to make that sound.

What Is In The Box Today?

What is in the box today,

Box today, box today?

What is in the box today?

It must be a __________. (Fill in the blank)

Here is a Box

Here is a box,

where something is hid...

I wonder what is under the lid?

Could it be?

Without a doubt!

It's a _________!

Let it come out!

(pretend to let it out of the box and make appropriate noises and actions)

Crafts

Treasure Boxes
